The 2023 FIFA Under-20 World Cup is into the knockout stages with 15 of the 24 nations still alive in the quest to raise the trophy on Sunday, June 11 in La Plata, Argentina.Â
The tournament bracket is set the rest of the way with all the potential matchups known for the quarterfinals, semifinals, and final.
Of the remaining teams, Brazil, England, Italy, and hosts Argentina are among the favourites to win it all. Three of those traditional powers fall on one side of the bracket with Italy facing England in the Round of 16. It’s noteworthy that a Brazil vs. Argentina final is still a distinct possibility.
Among the potential surprise teams that could make a run to the final are the USA or Uruguay, who are on Brazil’s side of the bracket. On the other side, South American nations Colombia and Ecuador, and African power Nigeria have the ability to spring the upset.

FIFA U20 World Cup bracket 2023
The tournament bracket could set up a South American rivalry match between Brazil and hosts Argentina in the final. That specific championship matchup has already happened twice in 1983 and 1995, with each country claiming a title.
Argentina have the most all-time Under-20 men’s titles with six, followed by Brazil who have won it on five occasions.
U20 World Cup Round of 16
Beginning with the Round of 16, there must be a winner on the day and any matches that are tied after 90 minutes will head into extra time and, if necessary, a penalty shootout.
The heavyweight clash of the Round of 16 is England vs. Italy on Wednesday, May 31.

Uzbekistan or Israel will be in the quarterfinals, which few probably predicted ahead of the tournament.
The USA meet either Uruguay or Gambia in the quarterfinals on the same side of the bracket.

According to the tournament rules, since the third-place match falls on the same day and in the same stadium as the final, the teams will go straight to penalty kicks in case of a draw after 90 minutes.

U20 World Cup Final
The final will crown the 23rd champion in men’s Under-20 tournament history. Ukraine won the last edition held in 2019, but they did not qualify from Europe.
The host nation has only won it on two occasions, with the last one being Argentina (2001). Portugal also won it all on home soil in 1991.
