The Philadelphia Phillies launched three-time All-Big name Whit Merrifield on Friday.
Merrifield, 35, signed with Philadelphia as a unfastened agent in February and seemed in 53 video games for the Phillies. He cut up his time between left box (20 begins), 2d base (12) and 3rd base (8).
Merrifield hit 3 house runs and drove in 11 runs whilst slashing .199/.277/.295 throughout 174 plate appearances this season.
Initially a ninth-round pick out by means of the Kansas Town Royals in 2010, he has a .281 profession batting moderate, with 93 house runs and 481 RBIs with the Royals, Toronto Blue Jays and Phillies.
Infielder/outfielder Weston Wilson was once recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to take Merrifield’s spot at the 26-man roster.
Wilson, 29, signed as a unfastened agent with the Phillies in January of 2023. This will likely be his 3rd stint within the large leagues with Philadelphia, having performed in 8 video games final season and two this season in early June.
Since being despatched all the way down to the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs on June 15, Wilson has made his presence recognized. He notched 10 house runs and 20 RBI whilst slashing .315/.446/.740 in 93 plate appearances in 20 video games.
He earned World League Participant of the Week honors on July 1 after blasting 4 homers, slashing .417/.500/.917 and boasting a 1.417 OPS throughout six video games.
