Tangles Salon in Keokuk wins Statewide Open 4 Industry Pitch Contest
5 Iowa Companies Take House Awards
August 1, 2023 (Sioux Town, Iowa) – Tangles Salon in Keokuk crowned 4 competition in a statewide pitch contest held Tuesday night time in Sioux Town. 5 companies from Major Side road Iowa communities around the state competed within the ultimate around of the Open 4 Industry contest. All 5 companies gained awards offered through Gov. Kim Reynolds and Debi Durham, director of the Iowa Financial Building Authority (IEDA) and Iowa Finance Authority.
“Let me let you know how tricky this was once – everybody goes house a winner,” Durham stated. “The tips pitched through those small industry homeowners mirror the creativity, group spirit and energy of Major Streets and downtowns throughout Iowa.”
Tarla Worth, who owns Tangles Salon, received a $20,000 grant for a salon enlargement that still features a new boutique and an apprenticeship program for cosmetologists.
“This will likely make an enormous affect on Keokuk and southeast Iowa,” Worth advised the judges.
The primary runner-up, Iowa Working Corporate in Cedar Rapids, received $15,000. The second one runner-up, Heron Kross in Ottumwa, received $10,000. Two honorable mentions, Glyn Mawr Vineyard – The Native in Mount Vernon and The Serving Café in West Department, each and every received $5,000.

The competition drew 20 candidates, which a first-round panel of judges narrowed to 5 finalists in June. On Tuesday, each and every finalist had 5 mins to pitch their concepts to the next state-level judges: Lisa Shimkat of The usa’s Small Industry Building Middle Iowa; Vada Grantham of Des Moines Space Neighborhood Faculty; Rand Fisher of Iowa Space Building Team; and Deb Giarusso of Advance Iowa.
That is the 9th yr of the Open 4 Industry contest, which is open to companies within the 54 Major Side road Iowa districts around the state.
The grants are administered via IEDA’s Iowa Downtown Useful resource Middle and Major Side road Iowa methods.
