CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Ross Steedley (East Rowan) has stepped down as head baseball trainer at Queens College of Charlotte.

Steedley earned his first collegiate head training activity with the Royals in April 2020, guiding the Royals to a 55-81 file during the last 3 seasons.

This season Steedley guided Queens to a 17-38 total file within the Royals’ first Department I season.

UNC middle fielder Vance Honeycutt (Salisbury) made the All-ACC Instructional group.

Native golfing

Cooper Burris, a emerging senior at Northwest Cabarrus, shot 3-under 68 on the Nation Membership of Salisbury and tied for 2nd in US Junior Beginner qualifying.

The highest 4 certified.

Tip Worth (Greenville, S.C.) shot 67. Pennson Badgett (Kings Mountain) shot 68. Drew Yeagley shot 69 and received a playoff  for the general spot with an eagle.

They’ll play within the event at   Daniel Island Membership in Charleston, S.C., on  July 24-29.

Burris, from Kannapolis, shot 69 in Rowan Masters qualifying at Warrior and received fits in that event.

GARS

GARS contributors performed at Warrior this week.

Low ‘A’ Flight participant used to be Larry Petrea with a internet of 62.76.

Low ‘B’ Flight participant used to be Nelson Earnhardt with a internet of 63.03.

Low ‘C’ Flight participant used to be Reid Bradshaw with a internet of 60.57.

Low ‘D’ Flight participant used to be Jim Brown with a internet of 58.65.

Petrea shot 2-under 69 to take low gross, whilst Brown received low internet.

Tremendous Senior winner used to be Norman Schenk with a internet of 62.94.

Taking pictures their age or higher had been  Petrea, 71, who shot a 69; Donald Martin, 79, who shot 79; Clyde Crawford, 81, who shot an 81,  Brown, 83, who shot an 83, and Dale Cobb, 84, who shot 80.

McCanless {Couples}

David & Azalee Huneycutt and Ty & Bev Cobb had been the first-place group on this week’s McCanless {Couples} play.

Ralph & Pam Carver and Cindy & Todd Cleary positioned 2nd.

Closest to pin winner used to be Todd Cleary.

Azalee Huneycutt received longest putt.

Little League softball

Rowan Little League achieved its same old trifecta and added District 2 championships in 8U and 10U softball to the 12U District 2 identify it received previous.

State tournaments are subsequent.

The 8U group will play at Lake Norman.

The 10U group heads to Durham.

The 12U state event is hosted through Pitt County.
