INDIANAPOLIS – Kate Douglass crowned a box that incorporated 10 Olympic medals as she gained the United States Phillips 66 Nationwide Championship within the 100-meter freestyle on Tuesday evening on the Indiana College Natatorium.
Douglass’s win routinely qualifies her for the 2023 Global Aquatic Championships in Fukuoka, Japan. The hot UVA graduate set a UVA file along with her time of 52.57.
At the side of Douglass, emerging junior Gretchen Walsh completed 3rd within the 100-meter freestyle to safe a place on the Global Championships as a part of the United States relay groups along with her personal-best time of 53.14. Emerging senior Maxine Parker will even sign up for Crew USA’s relay contingent after hanging 6th within the 100 loose in 53.51.
Virginia had 14 swimmers competing at the first day of the United States Nationals and 6 of the ones complicated to the finals on Tuesday evening.
Emerging senior Abby Harter made the 200-meter butterfly B Ultimate along with her time of two:11.77 in prelims. She completed sixteenth with a time of two:12.55.
Emerging juniors Jack Aikins and Tim Connery each made the C Ultimate of the lads’s 100-meter freestyle. Aikins simply ignored qualifying for the B Ultimate after going 48.93 to put seventeenth in prelims. Connery used to be twenty third in prelims with a time of 49.10.

- Emerging senior Sam Baron completed forty seventh within the girls’s 200-meter butterfly with a time of two:19.78.
- Emerging sophomore Sebastien Sergile used to be forty second within the males’s 200-meter butterfly with a time of two:01.99.
- Within the girls’s 100-meter freestyle, emerging junior Reilly Tiltmann used to be fortieth in 55.86, emerging sophomore Zoe Skirboll used to be sixty fifth in 56.92, emerging sophomore Carly Novelline used to be 68th in 57.05 and UVA alum Paige Madden used to be seventieth in 57.93.
- Emerging junior Connor Boyle completed fifty fifth within the males’s 100-meter freestyle (50.77).
- UVA alum Leah Smith completed fourth within the girls’s 800-meter freestyle (8:21.88). Emerging sophomore Sophia Knapp used to be twenty fourth with a time of 8:44.07.
