Southern Rock Energy Partners has selected Cushing to be the home for the next large-scale refinery to be built in the U.S., bringing millions of dollars to the rural area and more than 400 job opportunities, plus more than 1,000 construction site jobs as the refinery is being built.”We have a total economic impact over the next 10 years somewhere around $18 billion, and of that, we’re looking in the neighborhood of somewhere over $20 million a year being placed back into the local economy,” Johnson said.Right now, the city is focused on the planning and preparation for safety and financial obligations before officially breaking ground.
