Mustard Seed Market offers fun for all ages, support for small businesses

OWENSVILLE, Ohio (WKRC) – The Mustard Seed Market is back at the Clermont County Fairgrounds for its spring shopping event.

The event is hosted by Rustic Grains, a local woodworking and mobile boutique business. The host of the market and co-owner of Rustic Grains, Sarah Cox, said more than 100 vendors will be spread out amongst five acres of shopping spaces.

“We really thrive on experiences. We want people who come and shop in this market just to create memories while they’re here,” Cox said.

The market benefits Rustic Grains, but Cox said they are also collecting non-perishable food items for CNE Cares. The nonprofit will send those food items home with kids who need it over the summertime.

It’s not just fun for the shoppers of the family, but for the kids, too.

“We’re opening our Little Saplings Barn for kiddos today, so there’s a bunch of kid things happening. There’s a petting zoo. There’s barrel rides. There will be a free face painter here,” Cox said.

The Little Saplings Barn is a space for entrepreneurs 16 and younger to sell their items.

The Cox family lost their home and business in a fire in 2019. This market is part of their recovery process.

Owner of Queen City Fab Eddie Carlton is joining the Mustard Seed Market for the first time. He said it’s a great way to network, and he already plans to come back for the fall market.

“It’s good to get out to the community, growth, you can market with other vendors while you’re here, see what they do, see what they can offer,” Carlton said.

Owner of Simply Modern Scents Savannah Bennington said she has been a part of the market before and knows how great it is for small businesses.

Whenever you come to a market like this, it helps a lot of us small businesses that maybe do not have a brick-and-mortar store”, Bennington said. “Coming out to these markets and just supporting us, and it’s really great to put names to faces and be able to interact with people.

The Mustard Seed Market runs 10:00 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday and 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $10 online and at the gate on Saturday. Tickets are $5 on Sunday.
